This project has special meaning for me as it is very near to my native village. Even I am amazed at the various segments of the population that are often neglected due to their rural proximity from mainstream society. The project I am about to describe can, in all sincerity, have a tremendous positive impact on the lives of an entire generation.
The Yanadula tribal community lives on the outskirts of Kamavarapukota, located approximately 20km from Eluru in Andhra Pradesh. It is comprised of approximately 250 families with 400- 500 children. The primary source of income for the families includes working as a daily labor and in the agricultural sector on the property of a landowner.
The Problem:
Unfortunately, due the lack of education the adults have received themselves, they do not understand the value that an education can provide to improve the lives of their children. As a result, out of the 400 – 500 children in the tribal community, only 40 – 50 attend school. This is unacceptable.
Studies have shown time and again that education is the key. It is only through receiving proper education that these children will be able to rise out of the despicable situation they find themselves in and to break the chains of poverty that are preventing them from reaching their full potential.
The Proposed Solution:
In order to address this unacceptable injustice to the next generation of adults, the following project has been established and needs your support.
The creation of theMargherita Alfier School for Orphans. The school, in its initial stages will provide a refuge for the children to use for additional educational support, the provision of a nutritious daily meal and an environment conducive to studying. This formal structure will help to positively shape their future and place them on the path to the successful completion of their primary, secondary and higher education.
The estimated construction costs for this much needed School for Orphans are shown below:
We are situated at the outskirts of Kamavarapukota in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India. Nearly 300 families are around this Mission Trust. As the days pass on the number of the families are increasing. They live from hand to mouth because their work is seasonal. Because the work is seasonal, they could become disadvantaged in many ways. That is to say, they themselves are illiterate and since they have no source of income, they were not able to educate their children. The project is aimed to improve their futures by providing sewing machines to our unemployed girls and women.
The housewives don’t have consistent work since it is seasonal and the young girls will not be able to study because of their poverty. It is for this reason that this project is aimed to assist. Here, we not only teach tailoring, but will also add crafts work, embroidery, knitting, bag making, cooking and gardening. In this tailoring center we will stitch different styles for both ladies and men, block printing on sarees and bed-sheets, embroidery on all sorts of dresses and lace work. This tailoring center can create self employment for around 56 people per year.
After learning one year tailoring, they need not leave their communities to search for work. They can be self-employed and work from home to earn income for their daily needs. A housewife can earn around Rs. 100/ per day after completing her daily work. This helps to maintain the household. With this they can feed their family without fear of going hungry. They can also educate their children instead of sending them out to work as a daily laborer. The main aim of this project is to give them self-respect and to make them self-sufficient. As they are poor they are not able to buy a sewing machine themselves to stitch at home after finishing the training. Therefore we would like to invite your support in contributing a sewing machine so that each training graduate can earn an consistent income at home once the training has completed.
Tailoring Center--- Aim and Purpose:
1. Creating new Hope in a hopeless situation
2. Teaching new skills relevant to the local economy
3. Teaching them to start self-employment initiatives
4. Teaching them self confidence and independence
5. Rebuilding the families and communities
6. Creating a emotional support network
7. Enabling the parents to educate their children
Budget: Required Sewing Machines 50 X Rs. 3200= 1 Lakh 60,000
$ 50X Rs.65 = 3250
£ 39X Rs.84= 3276.
Total= $ 2461
Total= £ 1904

We are happy to announce the introduction of tuition classes for children served by the Milani Charitable Trust.
Each day, following the end of standard classes in local schools, the Milani Charitable Trust is now providing additional educational assistance for all children who would like some extra help with their course material.
Several qualified teachers have volunteered to provide additional instruction for approximately two hours following the end of formal school classes. This will allow children to get extra help to clarify the material covered during the school day as well as to have a proper environment to get a head start on completing any homework that may have been assigned.
If you would like to support this valuable initiative, please visit the How You Can Help page to safely make a contribution to support this work.
Thank you for your assistance in truly making a difference in the direction of the lives of these deserving children!
